Tacoma downs Stadium in South Sound lax battleUNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Connor McLeod scored 5 goals and an assist to lead Tacoma to a 9 – 3 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win, Thursday at Cirque-Bridgeport Park in University Place. Connor O’Brien had 11 ground balls to help Tacoma keep Stadium at bay in the battle of South Sound rivals. Andrew Rega had 7 saves in goal as Tacoma advanced to 5-9-0. Martin Park scored 2 goals and Drew Thomas had 15 saves in goal for 3-9-0 Stadium.

Boys Division IIStanwood lacrosse drops North County 10 – 6LYNDEN, Wash. – Andrew Price scored 3 goals and an assist as Stanwood dropped North County 10 – 6 in Boys Division II high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Bender Fields in Lynden. The win lifted Stanwood to 9-4-0 on the season, while North County fell to 1-11-0 with their third straight loss.

Klahowya drops South Kitsap for 8th straight lax winPORT ORCHARD, Wash. – Caleb Hiller scored 4 goals and Jason Trost added 3 as Klahowya won its 8th straight Boys Division II high school lacrosse game in a 14 – 5 defeat of Olympic Conference rival South Kitsap, Thursday at South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard. The win advanced Klahowya to 11 – 2. Eric Peterson had 2 goals and Ben Landry had 19 saves as South Kitsap dipped to 3-9-0 on the season.

Kyle Scott 2OT goal gives Whatcom lax win over Skagit ValleyBELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Kyle Scott scored with 3:34 remaining in the second overtime to give Whatcom a 7 – 6 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Skagit Valley, Thursday at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham. Scott scored the second of his two goals after taking a Jona Mannering pass to beat Skagit Valley goaltender Jordan Johnson for the win. Assisted by a Daniel Hernandez pass, Scott’s first goal came with just 2 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime. Hernandez scored 3 goals for 6-7-0 Whatcom. Blake Berg scored 3 goals and goaltender Jordan Johnson had 22 saves as Skagit Valley slipped to 3-10-0.

Will Massart had 11 saves for Blanchet as the Braves advanced to 11-2-0 atop the Metro Conference. Sage Vogt and Reed Kenny each scored for Garfield. With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 8-5-0.

The Islanders peppered Holy Names goaltender Katie Arthofer with 41 shots in the win. Katie Lopes had 3 goals in the loss for Holy Names. The Cougars finished the season at 4-9-0.

About High School Lacrosse in Washington StateLacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
